HOW TO CHANGE YOUR NEGATIVE HABIT TO POSITIVE HABITS

 




Habits can be changed if we are determined and ready to grow. They may feel like a part of us, but with intention and patience, they can be transformed. Here are some practical steps to help you make that change:


1. Know Your Habits  

Knowing yourself starts with knowing your habits. These are the things you do knowingly or unknowingly. Observe and study yourself. Take note of what you're capable of doing and what people often associate with you. It’s a gradual process, but it’s worth it. Self-awareness takes time, so be patient as you discover more about yourself.


2. Identify the Negative Habits

What are those habits that make you feel embarrassed or uncomfortable? Start by writing them down. Look for the patterns that aren’t healthy or helpful. Ask yourself: "What are those habits people keep correcting me about?" or "What are the things I do that don’t feel right?" For example, if you have a habit of raising your voice when it's unnecessary, that’s something to note.


3. Understand the Cause

Every habit has a root. Why do you raise your voice in certain situations? Is it a response to stress, frustration, excitement, or anger? Identify your triggers. Understanding the "why" behind the habit helps you manage it better.


4. Replace Old Habits with New Ones 

You can’t just stop a habit—you have to replace it with a better one. If you tend to raise your voice, practice speaking slowly and calmly. Learn to pause and think before responding. If you feel tempted to raise your voice, choose silence instead until you're calm enough to speak gently.


With time, commitment, and grace, you can begin to let go of the habits that don’t serve you and build new ones that help you grow. Keep going—you’re getting better.
